About this Piece

Constructed in 1945 and located at 7 St Ann's Rd, St Ann's, this historic building was a significant cultural landmark for the local Chinese Community. It was founded with the intention to work toward the cultural, social, educational and economic upliftment of the Chinese community in Trinidad and Tobago. Its
top floor had a traditional chinese style featuring a double roof supported by tall columns and cast iron brackets to distribute the load of the roof. Cresting on the top was a cast iron traditional style finial. It's many jalousies, a means of having a flow of air throughout the building. The artIst sought to capture the
details of this historic building which was demolished in December 2024.
