About this Piece

This painting was inspired by a calypso (a Caribbean genre of music) entitled Woman On D Bass, created and performed by the late Aldwyn Roberts, also known as the Lord Kitchener. It depicts a female member of a steel orchestra, pounding out the sweet rhythms on the bass drums.
